Jewelry Care
Sterling silver jewelry is gorgeous, and will last for generations as long as you take the proper steps to take care of your pieces!
Silver pieces will naturally tarnish over time due to sulfates in the air which causes your piece to oxidize. When the surface layer of your piece oxidizes, it will start to look dull and slightly discolored. It is important to store your pieces in a dry and enclosed area to slow this process. You can purchase air tight anti-tarnish bags off Amazon to store your pieces in. Or, if you prefer storage such as a jewelry box, you can purchase anti-tarnish stripes to throw in there as well! It is extremely important that you remove your jewelry before showering, washing dishes, swimming, applying lotions/perfumes, etc.
If you notice your piece looking a little dull, you can simply give it a gentle wipe with the polishing cloth I provide with your purchase! If it gets very dirty from everyday use, don't be afraid to gently wash it with mild soap and water. But try not to do this too often!
Most of the rings I make are antiqued, meaning I intentionally oxidize the ring during polishing. This adds contrast to make the details stand out beautifully. Because oxidation is the process used, be careful when using your polishing cloth on those areas as it may lighten the black detailing.
All the stones I use are natural and may have an uneven shape or texture, making them each unique and beautiful. But because they are natural, they are delicate and should be treated with care. So avoid dropping or banging your stone pieces as they may break. Dix River Silver Co accepts no liability for broken stones caused by the customers mishandling or improper care.
